Sports Without Borders
Stephane Diagana, Philippe Candeloro, Loick Peyron, Richard Dacoury or Ladji Doucoure. These French sports celebrities all actively support Sports Without Borders.
Created in 1999 by wrestler Arnaud Mourot, this non-profit organization helps thousands of children around the world gain access to educational and community development sports programs. Whether in India, Bolivia or Senegal, Sports Without Borders trains sports educators, creates curricula, builds facilities and provides equipment for local grassroots organizations. “We believe that sports can serve as a therapeutic and educational tool and as a foundation of personal development for troubled youths” asserts Benoît Muller in charge of communications and development at Sports Without Borders.
Beyond the relentless willpower of the small core team at Sports Without Borders remains the essential issue, i.e. having the means to accomplish their objectives. In order to better serve its beneficiaries and make itself more known to the general public, Sports Without Borders decided to participate in the V+R Challenge with Philippe Fuchs and The Marseille Motion Science Institute.
“The Paris-Beijing marathon and the virtual Facebook relay clearly show that sports is definitely full of innovation potential!” adds Benoît Muller. “Our partnership with Dassault Systèmes represents an opportunity to set foot in interactive, on-line communications in real-time 3D, helping us fulfill two main goals: awareness-raising and fund-raising. Thanks to Dassault Systèmes, we are the privileged partners of a unique project, a 3D virtual relay on the internet, an ambitious technologicial challenge that we are thrilled to participate in. Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to enlarge the scope of our work with children and youths from less-privileged economic backgrounds around the world”.
Once Philippe Fuchs's marathon and the virtual on-line relay are run, Sports Without Borders and Dassault Systèmes will continue their partnership in a soon-to-be-revealed project that is already in the works... Another surprising combination of sports, real-time 3D and support for a worthy cause...
